Während ich noch an dem Album „Mercury Ratchet“ arbeite, sind natürlich einige Songs schon fertig. „Before Sunrise“ („Vor dem Sonnenaufgang“) bezeichnet die „Blaue Stunde“. Der Begriff „Blaue Stunde“ bezieht sich auf die Zeitspanne innerhalb der abendlichen oder morgendlichen Dämmerung, während der sich die Sonne so weit unterhalb des Horizonts befindet, dass das blaue Lichtspektrum am Himmel noch bzw. schon dominiert und die Dunkelheit der Nacht noch nicht eingetroffen bzw. schon vorbei ist. Das Blau des Himmels zur Blauen Stunde hat eine andere spektrale Zusammensetzung als das Blau bei Tage, da es auf eine andere physikalische Ursache zurückzuführen ist. Während der „Blauen Stunde“ besitzt der tiefblaue Himmel etwa dieselbe Helligkeit wie das künstliche Licht von Gebäude- und Straßenbeleuchtungen, weshalb die „Blaue Stunde“ in der Fotografie eine besondere Bedeutung hat.
Die „Blaue Stunde“ erzeugt eine besonders unwirklich Stimmung – schon fast dystopisch. Besonders im Mix mit Kunstlicht entsteht ein besonderer Effekt. Nach der Sichtung dieses Defektes habe ich mich an mein Mellotron gesetzt (ein „Sampler“ mit 11sec. analoger Sample-Länge hau Tonband) und ein bisschen rumgespielt. Die mächtigen analogen Bässe aus einem Korg MS-20 (Baujahr 1978) und eine Fender Stratocaster gesellten sich schnell dazu – an zwei Abenden war der Song fertig! Noch ein bisschen Abstimmung am Mischpult – und das war’s! Die Resonanz bei den Test-Hörern war umwerfend.

Der Song soll am 2. April 2023 auf den üblichen Musik – Portalen erscheinen. Ebenfalls wird dieser Song auf einer Vinylplatte mit 180 g in blau und audiophiler Tonqualität erscheinen. Übrigens meiner ersten Vinyl – Pressung. Ich bin genauso gespannt wie Ihr! Ich halte euch auf dem Laufenden.

While I’m still working on the Mercury Ratchet album, a few songs are of course already finished. “Before Sunrise” refers to the “Blue Hour”. The term “blue hour” refers to the period of time within the evening or morning twilight, during which the sun is so far below the horizon that the blue light spectrum in the sky still or already dominates and the darkness of the night has not yet arrived or has passed .is already over. The blue of the sky at the blue hour has a different spectral composition than the blue during the day because it is due to a different physical cause. During the “blue hour” the deep blue sky has about the same brightness as the artificial light from building and street lighting, which is why the “blue hour” has a special meaning in photography.
The “blue hour” creates a particularly unreal mood – almost dystopian. A special effect is created, especially when mixed with artificial light. After spotting this defect, I sat down at my mellotron (a “sampler” with 11sec. analog sample length hau tape) and played around a bit. The powerful analog bass from a Korg MS-20 (built in 1978) and a Fender Stratocaster quickly joined in – the song was finished in two evenings! A little tuning on the mixer – and that’s it! The response from the test headphones was amazing.
